Elder and Sister Goff

Larry:

I was raised in the Church in Salt Lake City, Utah. I was called to the Brazil South Mission when I was 19 and enjoyed my service there. My mother moved the family to Provo while I was in Brazil so she could teach at BYU. I graduated from BYU and went to work for Safeway, Inc, a national grocery chain. I had to take a little time off from work to answer a call to serve in the army. I was sent to Germany for a year before being released. I returned to Safeway and continued with them until they were sold. I then found employment with the State of Utah, Drivers License Division where I worked for 20 years until retirement in 2009.

Pat:

Born in Minnesota, joined the Church at age 18 because a good friend had joined a few years earlier and she told me about it. I was looking for deeper religion in my life, and had been for several years. My parents thought I was a fanatic, but I was not. I met with the missionary elders, and was a “golden contact” (I believed everything they taught me right away). After a year of college in Minnesota (I had a scholarship), I transferred to BYU and graduated from there. Larry and I met a few years later and were married in the Provo Temple. We raised four sons in Pleasant Grove, Utah, then moved to a condo after they were grown up. We have both served in many callings in the Church, but my two favorites are music (piano) and family history teaching. For this mission, we requested a family history assignment, and received it. (Senior missionaries can request assignments.)
